The best advert they can get?

Gillet's current advert campaign features two top sportsmen and Thiery Henry. Nicely posed, mean and moody. Here it is:

Now lets compare with the advert for Cranmer Hall (the Theological college attached to Durham University). They are very proud of the fact that three of their former students have made it as Bishops recently. Amazingly I know one of them well (Keith Sinclair on the far left) He married us, and baptized Owen. He was our parish priest for 5 years. I also have worked for Chris Edmonson, (in the middle) at Lee Abbey where he was warden. Just to make sure that its covered by someone I have e-mailed them both to poke fun at them for arguably the most ridiculous advert I have ever seen. Here it is:

There is so much to say:

1) One holding a bible, one a crucifix, and Keith hits the jackpot by holding a raazor - presumably a comment on his beard, but what has it got to do with God, Cranmer Hall etc etc. There should be more beards in the anglican church, not less.
2) None of them play sport (I've played touch rugby with Keith and Cricket with Chris - neither set the world alight)
3) Gillet's advert essentially suggest that if you are closely shaved women will drape themselves all over you. - Does this mean Bishops trainined at Cranmer get the same treatment?
4) The razor Keith is holding is a womens one
5) I assume the implication is that if you train at Cranmer you are likely to become a bishop... not sure about the message that sends.

But over all, and by far the most important thing (imagine Nelson from the simpsons...) Ha Ha... to all three.

Wedding Games

Went to Kate's (from work) wedding this saturday. The big dilemma was what to do, after a bit of a dance and some drinking, and being sociable types keen to intermingle with the other wedding guests, we set ourselves the challenge of being photographed with as many of the brides family (who we had never met before) as possible. Below are the greatest hits. Big points for both the mother and father of the bride, small points for a two cousins, and a brother. Other shots of great aunt and uncle and another cousin didn't make it as they are horribly blurred/dark. Good fun.

Welwyn

A visit to Welwyn to see George (Sarah and Tom's new baby) resulted in no photos of George - Doh.

Still, here's some shots of other stuff.

The best game in the world

Seriously - I'm not joking. I'd pay for this, but thanks to the wonders of the internet its free: http://www.miniclip.com/games/magic-pen/en/

Its easy to do, but try and make some seriously ambitious structures then it becomes really fun.

Annoyingly (and pretty much as normal) my little sister is miles better at this than me, if you want to get some tips you can mail her at goodateverything@withouttrying.org.uk

McQueen Stickers

A present of 100 McQueen stickers from Sarah, Tom and Harry proved a big hit. He used all 100 in one sitting...
